Image Kolkata is reminiscent of its past glory during the British rule and stands out as one of the most quintessential cities that has a perfect blend of the modernity and old heritage going hand in hand. The tourist attractions in Kolkata remind us the yesteryears when the British used to rule the nation and Victoria Memorial is the apt instance of it. This is one of the most magnificent tourist attractions in Kolkata that is still having its old charm and grandeur. Dul Dul Chortena also features among the popular tourist attractions in Gangtok that was built under the direction of the late most respected Rimpoche and is a place of worship for the Tibetan Buddhists.

Other places of interest in Gangtok are the monasteries like the Pemayangtse Monastery dating from the 17th century and the Labrang Monastery about a century old, both belonging to the Nyingmapa division. The Royal chapel, Tasuklakhang within the palace grounds has a large anthology of Buddhist scriptures.


Image New Jalpaiguri - is a major railway junction linking Siliguri north eastern India to major Indian cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Pune, Jabalpur,Guwahati,Bangalore, etc. But the city still lacks direct connectivity with other major cities like Ahmedabad, Bhopal, Indore, Jaipur and the south Indian cities. The station has all three gauges — broad gauge — linking regular rail traffic between Assam and other parts of India; narrow gauge — the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway — a World Heritage Site connecting it with the hill station of Darjeeling and the metre gauge which connects parts of Assam and used as local rail services.

The stop is also a major junction for supplies and goods for the state of Sikkim.
